A village head and his wife have been kidnapped by some bandits at Araromi Village, Ido Local Government area of Oyo State. Journalists gathered that the gun-trotting hoodlums stormed the village on Tuesday night during a downpour and whisked the couple away.
Residents of the village identified the Village head as Chief Tafa Apanpa.
The village is close to Bakatari, which is a border town between Oyo and Ogun States.
As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the village head and his wife were still unknown.
Confirming the incident, one of the residents of the area said: “It is true.The Baale has been kidnapped.”
The abduction was also confirmed by the Oyo State Police Command through its Public Relations Officer, DSP Adewale Osifeso.
“The incident happened very late on Tuesday, 22nd of June, 2021 at Araro village.Efforts are in top gear to rescue both victims and as well apprehend the abductors, please,” Osifeso said.
