Parastals Monitoring Office committed To Move Lagos To A Greater Heights

Lagos State Parastals Monitoring Office has re-emphaaized its resolve at moving Lagos to a greater heights, even despite the havoc renderd by the COVID – 2019 pandemic and EndSars total and complete destruction of several billions of properties in Lagos. This was contained in the speech delivered by the Special Adviser,  Parastals Monitoring Office, Mr Afolabi Ayantayo, while referring accounts of his stewardship at the 2nd Anniversary of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Bababjide Sanwo-Olu at Bagauda Kaltho Press Center on Tuesday, May 25, 2021.
Ayantayo stated that over the past two year when the Governor took over the reins of administration in the state, the office has been working in tandem with the administration thrust under the six major developmental pillars captured under the THEMES agenda. “The general focus of this Parastals is to move Lagos to a greater heights, To achieve this, it is important for the Parastals and Government’ -owned companies to attune themselves to the attainment of the lofty goals of this administration,hence the need to be ensure their proper functioning and effective delivery of their mandates”, Ayantayo said.
The Special Adviser to the Governor also declared that PMO among other duties is saddled with the mandate of ensuring that State parastatals are managed and run in accordance with administrative guidelines.
He added that the Office is expected to routinely monitor the execution of capital projects of all parastatals and government-owned companies based on identified Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to ensure that the set targets are achieved. In addition, PMO among several other duties is also responsible for advising the government on the need to streamline the mandates of some agencies in a bid to ensure improved efficiency and effectiveness.
Recall that PMO, which had been in existence since 1984, became moribund during the last administration in the State before its re-establishment by the present administration. The re-establishment of the office would further harmonise the activities of the various parastatals and also align their operations to conform to the vision and policy thrust of the State Government.
“It is gratifying to mention that the office has made remarkable achievements in the monitoring and evaluating the performance of Parastals and Government’-owned companies with a focus on 5 Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), which include the Process, Input, Output and Outcome, Qualitative, Quantitative KPIs and ensuring that the targets of the Parastals are achieved” Ayantayo said
