The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has reiterated it’s committment to fight corruption in all forms, especially Cybercrimes among Nigerian Youths. The EFCC Zonal Director, Lagos office Mr. Ahmed Mohammed Ghali who stated during in a chat with Newsmen in lkeja, Lagos expressed worry on the alarming cases of Internet fraud popularly known as “Yahoo Yahoo” among youths at the grassroots.
According to Mr. Ghali, many Nigerians youths no longer believe in succeeding through legitimate ventures but quick- wealth through lnternet fraud. He lamented that such nefarious acts was giving Nigerians, especially youths bad image among their counterparts across the globe.
The EFCC Lagos Zonal Head noted that the strong collaboration between the commission and the Federal Bureau of investigation, FBI, has paved way for continued arrest of Cybercrime suspects, their prosecution and confiscate their ill- gotten wealth, hence the need for all parents and guardians to continue to advice their wards to shun such social vices.
On the Whistle blower policy adopted by the Commission, Mr. Ghali maintained that the agency protects the identity and rewards any lndividual, who provides credible lnformation that could led to the arrest and prosecution of perpetrators of Economic and Financial Crimes.
He also used the opportunity to solicit for more support from the media to create more awareness on the activities of the Commission at the grassroots.
