Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya of a Lagos State High Court in Ikeja has fixed January 20 for continuation of trial of some defendants who were arraigned for stealing 451million naira from Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc.
The trial suffers set back due to absence of the prosecuting counsel from the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police.
The defendants were Musa Sule, Habib Mande, Joseph Ukpah, Babatunde Ajao, Onyekwere Victor Chinedu, Alayande Rahman, Omoro Ezekiel, Abugba Christian Odion, Mannir Mohammed and a company, El-Habib Property Nig. Ltd.
They were arraigned on an eight count charge which borders on felony and stealing.
All the defendants pleaded not guilty to all the count charges.
The defendants counsels, Kola Kadiri and Yemi Omodele expressed dismay about the delay trials antics noting that the prosecutor’s was informed.
Subsequently, the defense team urged the court to take cognizance of the prosecutor actions as they would be asking for the matter to be strike out for lack of diligence if they played same antics on the next adjourned date.
