The Nigerian Navy says it has recovered an SUV ( Honda Jeep) which was stolen from the Headquarters of the Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA by hoodlums during the heat of the recent #ENDSARS protests in Lagos and has also arrested forty one persons, for having taken part in various criminal acts like looting and attacks on innocent Nigerians, during the protests.
This was made known to newsmen in Lagos by Navy Commander Andy Zidon, the Beecroft Naval Base Operation’s Acting Executive Officer, who represented Navy Commodore Ibrahim Shetima of NNS Beecroft Base in Apapa, Lagos.
Commodore Shetima said NNS Beecroft had also assisted in daily securing the Headquarters building of the NPA, after the invasion by the hoodlums who looted and set part of it ablaze.
It also conducted several rounds of patrols and took neccessary measures within the ambit of the law, towards deploying personnel to key infrastructure bases like the NNPC installations, the Tank Farms and the Lagos Ports, to prevent hoodlums from attacking the places and the merchant vessels coming into the ports.
The Naval Senoir Officer said, aside the SUV, other items recovered included household items, industrual equipment and a bicycle.
He noted that the Nigerian Navy was working in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, for a means of handing over the recovered items to their rightful owners.
