Agas tanker explosion has occurred at the Ifako-Ijaye area of Lagos on Thursday, September 24, 2020, with many people sustaining burn injuries.
According to a monitored media report, the Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, while confirming the incident said efforts are being made to put out the resulting fire from the explosion
“The Agency responded to distress calls concerning the above and it was confirmed that a 30 ton LPG Tanker being operated by Mana Gas Ltd was involved in an explosion which destroyed several vehicles, X and Y Event Center and a Plank Market in the above mentioned axis.
“The responders discovered that a compromised seal device by the truck driver had led to gradual leakages which then ignited when the tyres burst.
” Responders at the scene of incidence are LASEMA fire, Lagos Fire , Police and members of NSCDC.
Presently, the fire has been extinguished and damping down is being carried out.
” Sixteen (16) People were found to have serious injuries and were taken to various hospital including Iju water works Clinic . Two (2) people are in critical condition and are being referred to General Hospital Ikeja. The other 14 have been given adequate first aid treatment.”
