The Lagos State Executive Council and some selected heads of parastatal and agencies have converged on the Adeyemi Beero auditorium in Alausa Ikeja for a two-day performance evaluation retreat.
In his remarks, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu noted that the retreat would enable his Administration to ascertain its position as a Government and to determine the impact of the Administration’s policy on residents.
“In the last one year, more importantly In the last four months and the objective is for each and everyone of us to very transparently reassess what we are doing, how well are we serving the citizens that had given us this unique opportunity and I am hoping that in the next one and half day, we would be true to ourselves, challenge ourselves to become better managers, better Administrators and better public officers going forward” Governor Sanwo-Olu said.
The Governor who expressed optimism that the two-day interactive retreat would serve as a platform for constructive criticism, emphasised that the yardstick for performance evaluation would not be based on the amount of money expended on projects, but on positive impact on Lagosians and reiterated his Administration’s commitment to improve the standard of living of residents through the completion of ongoing projects and implementation of new ones.
“I want to assure you that despite the disruption occasioned by Covid-19 and other challenges that we do not envisaged, we are still committed as a Government to ensure that promises that we give to our people to step forward , to heighten the tempo of governance and continue to create opportunities through innovative policies that can be not only inclusive but provide a sustainable solution for this present administration and laying the foundation for future administration” he said
The Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat expressed the hope that at the end of the retreat, members of the Exco and all key stakeholders in the current Administration would have been energised for better service delivery
Earlier, the State Head of service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola had listed steps taken by some of the departments and agencies to mitigate the impact of the covid-19 pandemic and ensure smooth delivery of service.
In an address of welcome, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Jaji announced that the core objective of the retreat is to enable a forensic review of the Administration’s plan sector by sector.
