Progress Phimia, 40, was remanded for allegedly defiling his five-year-old daughter by a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt presided over by Chief Magistrate Amaka F.N Amanze on Friday.
His imprisonment at the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre was ordered by Chief Magistrate Amanze.
“That you, Progress Phimia,’m’ of N0 4 Philips Close, Off road 24 Agip Estate, Port Harcourt, sometime in the month of November 2021 in Port Harcourt Magisterial district unlawfully had carnal knowledge of your daughter aged 5 years and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 218 of criminal code Cap “37” Vol.11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria 2004,” according to the charges sheet.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he did not enter a plea.
The Chief Magistrate postponed the hearing until December 9, 2021, and ordered that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for review.
