As the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senate primaries near their conclusion, Her Excellency, Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule, the former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, has stated that she relied on council Chairmen across the 28 Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Lagos-West.
She made the comment yesterday at the Radisson Blu in Ikeja, where she made an official introduction of her aspiration to run for the Lagos-West Senate in front of executive chairmen from Lagos-West.
While congratulating APC national leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Dr. Adebule stated that becoming the next Senator for Lagos-West is a project that must be achieved collaboratively with grassroots political leaders.
“The council chairmen are the custodian of grassroots politics, and it is through you we can make this project a success across communities in your respective domain.” she said.
If awarded the slots to represent the party, APC, in the red chamber, the bespectacled former Deputy Governor said she will improve several developmental strides in the Lagos-West area.
Dr. Adebule was particularly concerned about the development of the girl child and women’s independence, stating that women’s welfare will be one of her top objectives.
While appreciating her role in the day’s events, Hon. Razak Ajala, executive chairman of Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, said the conference of council chairmen from the 28 LGs and LCDAs will cooperate to assure Dr. Adebule’s election as Senator and APC flag bearer.
He praised Her Excellency, Dr. Adebule’s intentions, stating that her goals for a better and developed Lagos-West are progressive.
Hon. Razak Ajala proposed that, in addition to girl child development, the potential Senator should include boy child development in her red chamber administrative preparations.
“The need to develop and improve on the welfare of boy child is also important,” the secretary of Conference 57 council chairmen stressed.
On his part, Hon. Ganiyu Egunjobi, council chairman of Agege local government, congratulated Dr. Idiat Oluranti Adebule on her election as the APC’s next Senator in the 2023 general elections.
He noted: “Rest assured that all delegates shall be in your favour at the primaries on Friday.”
“The project is a call to duty that demands collective commitment in the grassroots for it to be successful.” he said of the former Deputy Governor.
The Senate primaries are set for Friday, May 27, 2022.
