The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) National Working Committee (NWC) has denied disclosing the timetable for the 2023 general elections that have been circulating on social media.
The false election schedule, according to the PDP, was created by nefarious individuals who want to cause division within the party.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, revealed that the phony calendar of events for the 2022/2023 electioneering year came from the PDP.
It went on to say that the National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Umar M. Bature, had not signed or issued any such document.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP is a Party of Due Process and will release a Timetable and Schedule of Activities for the 2022/2023 electioneering year after extensive consultation and approval by critical and statutory organs of the party at appropriate levels,” it added.
According to the party, the alleged timeline that has been circulating on social media is the work of nefarious groups who want to confuse, mislead, and divert the public at this important time.
The PDP urged all of its members and the general public to disregard the aforementioned Timetable and Schedule of Activities, emphasizing that it was not issued by the party.
The main opposition party intimated that, once authorized, the PDP’s official Timetable and Schedule of Activities will be properly publicized and published through official communication channels rather than social media.
The party advised its members and Nigerians in general to be focused and not be diverted in their resolute endeavor to rescue and restore the country from the All Progressives Congress’ misrule (APC).
