Valentine Obienyem, the Media Adviser to Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, has denied claims that his principal responded to the statements of Rev Father Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry.
Mbaka made anti-Obi remarks during a service at his prayer hall on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, InsightnaijaTV reports.
While speaking to his members, Mbaka stated that Obi will not be elected President of Nigeria in 2023 because he lacks the spirit of generosity.
Many Nigerians slammed him on social media as a result of this. It also resulted in a decrease in his Facebook followers.
As a response to Mbaka, some news outlets repurposed old tapes of Peter Obi speaking about how he avoided excessive spending while in office to conserve money.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Peter Obi’s aide refuted the charges, saying that the Presidential candidate did not respond to Mbaka’s speech and will not issue any further statements on the subject.
The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to Mr. Peter Obi as his reply to Fr. Ejike Mbaka.
“We wish to state for the record that Mr Peter Obi did not and is not planning to issue any reply.
“We advise that any medium trying to publish such an unsigned letter should clarify its authenticity from Mr Obi’s Media Office.”
