The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has cautioned that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential nominee, would betray PDP governors over his pledge to rule Nigeria for a single term.
In a statement, Ohanaeze Secretary-General Okechukwu Isiguzoro issued a warning that Atiku’s presidency would be rife with deceit and lying.
Atiku was characterised by Isiguzoro as a person who was never dependable and never kept his word.
“Ndigbo and Nigerians realise the ramifications of President Buhari handing over power to another Northerner in 2023, especially to Atiku Abubakar, who is perceived as a fragile and unpredictable person who never sticks to agreements,” he stated.

“It is the height of nepotism and hypocrisy for President Buhari’s successor to be another Northerner, making it easier for the North to hold power against the South for the first time for 16 years in a row after many wasteful years of the North in military regimes.

“Atiku’s presidency will be full of deception and falsehood,” Ohaneze claimed, “as he forbade to endorse an agreement with Southern PDP Governors for a single term pact, with the recent refusal of the Northern Caucus of PDP to relinquish the National Chairman of the Party while holding the Presidential candidate and the recent resignation of BoT Chairman Walid, a political manoeuvre and prank to spite Ndigbo.”
“Ndigbo would take into consideration adopting a Southerner as the candidate who will garner Igbo votes for 2023.
