Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former Minister of Defence, has labeled Kano State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as an “ingrate” who has forgotten people who helped him win the governorship election in 2015.
Kwankwaso claimed that he is willing to collaborate with another former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau, to demolish Ganduje’s political base ahead of the 2023 governorship race.
This was stated by the former Kano governor and ex-senator representing Kano Central in an interview with BBC Hausa on Saturday.
Kwankawaso blamed Ganduje for the crisis shaking Kano’s All Progressives Congress (APC), saying he was not surprised.
He said, “Anyone who cannot pay back the good things that were done to him for many years, because he himself (Ganduje) has mentioned it that we did this and that to him. And a lot of people have heard that.
“But the time he got to power, he couldn’t do one single favour to Kwankwaso and Kwankwasiyya followers. So how do you expect peace to be there? I know it was coming, it’s just a matter of time.”
Kwankwaso thanked Shekarau for praising him at a recent event, and said he wouldn’t be shocked if they both wind up in the same political camp in the future.
The former defence minister revealed that he had remained mute in the PDP due to injustices in the election of leaders in the party’s Kaduna chapter.
The PDP chieftain claimed that after the elections, some selfish leaders decided to cause problems for Kano’s leadership, which he claimed had been rectified.
