Kingsley Moghalu, the Young Progressives Party’s presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections, officially launched his candidacy on Friday.
In a tweet, the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria stated that he will not wait for any phony call before announcing his decision to run for president in 2023.
Moghalu has indicated that he is running on a vision, not ethnic identity politics, and that he is capable of competing with any other contender.
He wrote “I’m running for President of Nigeria. I’m not waiting for anyone to (fake) “call on me”, or until the presidency is zoned to anywhere.
“I’m running on a vision, not on ethnic identity politics. I’m as good as anyone in Nigeria, north or south, to be President.”
Meanwhile, after abandoning the Young Progressives Party, Moghalu plans to run on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.
Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, and Orji Uzor Kalu, the Senate Chief Whip, are among those who have declared their intention to run in the 2023 presidential election.
