Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, a woman, has been announced as Gov. Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa’s running mate for the 2023 governorship election on the Peoples Democratic Party platform (PDP).
At the unveiling ceremony on Wednesday in Yola, Fintiri stated that the selection of Farauta, who is now the Vice-Chancellor of the Adamawa University, Mubi, was based on her honesty, integrity, transparency, and hard work.
He emphasized that in addition to her motherly responsibilities of maintaining the home, she was required to carry out her duties with diligence and fear of God.
“Her choice was a result of painstaking and strategic calculations especially the need to further carry the women along by being gender-sensitive,” he said.
For the sake of the state’s advancement and growth, Fintiri pleaded with the opposition parties to work with his administration.
“We will play politics with decency and decorum and devoid of primordial sentiments or emotion,” he said.
Farauta thanked Fintiri and the PDP for believing she was deserving of the position during her speech, describing her nomination as an act of God.
She pledged to serve with allegiance, dedication, commitment, and fear of God.
“We will work assiduously to ensure victory for the party in all future elections,” she said.
She called on women to be committed in their educational pursuit for academic excellence.
InsightnaijaTV reports that Farauta, a graduate of the University of Nsukka was born on Nov. 28, 1965, in the Numan Local Government Area of the state.
