Before, during, and after the general elections in fewer than 50 days, Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has assured that the state is 90% secure and safe.
After a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in his office on Friday, Zulum assured those who were concerned about the security situation to go collect their permanent voter cards (PVCs). He claimed that Borno State had previously participated in elections in 2015 and 2019 despite the worsening security situation.

He claims that since then, there has been a “remarkable” over 90% improvement in the situation, and eligible voters can now get ready to cast their votes on Election Day.
This promise comes a few weeks after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign train was attacked in Maiduguri, the state capital, on November 20, 2022.
Given that the state is 90% safe and secure, Zulum is optimistic that the 2023 elections in Borno state would go smoothly.
