Nysome Wike, the governor of Rivers State, has voiced dissatisfaction with the Biomodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) device that the Independent National Electoral Commission has placed at his voting location.
Wike, who came with his wife, Judge Suzzette Eberechi Wike, at voting unit 7 in Ward 9 in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area at around 10:30 am, expresses disappointment that the BVAS was unable to authenticate the Governor and his wife, who were the first voters at the polling place.

After more than 20 minutes of futile attempts, a female election officer pleaded with the first family to come back.
She promised that the error will be fixed by technicians. She acknowledged that the problem affected other areas of Rivers State as well.
After a protracted period of time, Wike evaluated the exercise and declared it a failure. The governor also voiced his dissatisfaction with the machine’s performance at his voting location and his concern that its malfunction may taint the outcome of the election.
