President Muhammadu Buhari has been named the chairman of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.
The decision was made at a meeting between Bola Tinubu, the party’s presidential candidate, and the APC Governors.
Prior to the elections in 2023, political campaigns are anticipated to begin in September.
According to the campaign’s organisational chart, which ThisDay obtained, Simon Lalong, the governor of Plateau State, continues to serve as the campaign’s director general.
However, Lalong would answer to President Buhari, who has been given the authority to make the final choice about the campaign’s activities and funding.
President Buhari would be represented in the council by Tinubu, while Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, would serve as the vice chairman (2).
Atiku Bagudu, the governor of Kebbi State and the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, and Godswill Akpabio, the former minister of the Niger Delta, were chosen to serve as vice chairmen.
Kashim Shettima, the vice presidential candidate for the APC, and Uju Kennedy, the party’s lone female candidate, were also named vice chairmen.
Adams Oshiomole, a former party national chairman, was promoted to the position of deputy director-general for operations.
Hadiza Bala Usman was named the James Faleke (Secretary) Deputy Director-General for Administration, while Christopher Takar was named the Deputy Secretary.
David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, would be in charge of coordinating the South, and Badaru Abubakar, the governor of Jigawa State, would be in charge of the North.
Abubakar Bello, the governor of Niger State, would act as coordinator for North Central, along with the governors of Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State (North-East), Bello Matawale of Zamfara State (North-West), Ben Ayade of Cross River State (South-South), and Hope Uzodinma of Imo State (South-East).
