The Lagos State Government today honoured one thousand public servants who have meritoriously served the State in the past thirty years and more.
In his address taken virtually, the Head of Service ,Mr. Hakeem Muri -Okunola while congratulating the awardees urged them not to rest on their oars but continue to exhibit a high sence of responsibility and commitment to duty with unalloyed loyality to their duties.
Muri-Okunola enjoined public servants in the state to keep up the good attitude to work and perform their duties diligently to enhance the successful implementation of the the THEMES agenda of the state Government.
“A significant number of public servants have been rewarded with the award since it’s inception in y2006. In this 14th edition, a total number of 1000 officers received awards in continuation of this tradition of excellence. Let me reiterate that your celebration today represents the state Government’s appreciation of your contributions over last 30; years or more to the growth and development of Lagos State”, he said.
Okunola assured the public servants of Government’s continued efforts to give staff welfare a premium place in the scheme of things in the state.
“You should not rest on your oars, but continue to exhibit a high sense of responsibility and commitment to duty with unalloyed loyalty, which today’s recognition and celebration have been designed, while on our own, I can assure you of Government’s efforts at giving staff welfare a premium place in the scheme of things”, Muri-Okunola said
The head of service urged the public servants to take full advantage of the latest ICT technologies particularly with the change in work brought about by the covid 19 pandemic.
In her goodwill message, the Chairman Cvil Service Commission, Mrs Olubunmi Fabamwo, congratulated the awardees expressing appreciation to them for their modest contributions to the state.
She said many of the awardees joined the service in their youths and have positively impacted the state, urging them to strive higher,she noted that the sky was their limit.
Also in her goodwill message, the chairman Teaching Service Commission, Mrs Elizabeth Ariyo, congratulated the awardees expressing appreciation for their good work in the State, noting that the state has the best public service in the Country.
Responding on behalf of the awardees the chairman Ikeja Zone of ANCOPSS, Mrs Bolanle Ojolowo, expressed deep appreciation to Governor Babajide Sanwoolu and his team for the honor done on them.She pledged their continued support to the development of the State.
In a vote of thanks, Permanent Secretary ,Public Service office , Samson Olusegun Ajibade, congratulated the awardees and all that made the event a success.He pledged the continued support of the state government to the welfare of public servants in the state noting that governor Sanwoolu has consistently demonstrated this by putting in place policies that cater for the public servants..
